Riddled with anxiety and perfectionism for many years, I thought constant internal conflict was my destiny and the only way to ease those feelings was to be more perfect. I believed everything was supposed to be harder for me - studying for exams, job interviews, social events, relationships. All of it. I had zero tools to manage my emotions, so I became engulfed by them. I felt like it was me and I was too much. I’d leave social events so exhausted because I didn’t give myself permission to be me.
And without healthy ways to manage this, my body took a hit (our bodies will always take a hit for any internal tension we don't sort through). The worst digestion - even green juice made me vomit, skin that went from glowing and bright to not even human. And spending more than a year, staring at a dark ceiling into the wee hours of the night, because I. Could. Not. Sleep.
I had to do what I feared the most - stop running and finding distractions so I could turn and face myself.
From my personal experience and many people I’ve coached, I know it doesn’t have to be this way.
